Do you have more than one personal LinkedIn profile? It happens. Maybe you accidentally created a new account, forgetting you already have one. Whatever the reason, rest assured, there is an easy way to merge your accounts and move forward with one single LinkedIn account.
Just follow these simple steps.
- Log into the account you want to keep.
- Click on the “Me” icon in the top right, then select “Help Center” in the drop-down menu:
- In the Help Center, LinkedIn offers a few popular suggestions. One of them is “Merge Connections from Two LinkedIn Accounts”:
- From here you will enter the email address and password of the duplicate account. The connections from that account with be transferred to the one you are logged in to. After you review and confirm, the old account will be closed:
The only downside is the current merge process allows for your connections to be transferred to your other LinkedIn account but not pending invitations or any profile information like recommendations, endorsements, work experience, or group memberships. It is recommended to keep the account with the most followers and up-to-date information and close the other.
LinkedIn has become the go-to place for employers, recruiters, and job hunters. It is the first place an employer goes after receiving a resume from an applicant and is an excellent resource for anyone hoping to land a new position or connect with important people in their field. To that end, don’t neglect your LinkedIn page! Take the time to merge accounts, keep your page updated, and interact with the people you’re connected with. You never know when it will come in handy.
