In order to have a business profile, it is recommended that you first have a personal Facebook profile. If you don’t have a personal page yet, you can go to Facebook and walk through their easy process to set one up. Once this is done, follow the steps below to create your Facebook Business profile.
How To Create a Facebook Business Profile in Four Simple Steps
Step 1: Choose Page Style
While logged in to your personal Facebook page, go to Facebook Business Page Creation and choose your page style.
You can select whether you are a ‘Business or Brand’ or a ‘Community or Public Figure’. These options differ slightly and will give you a final page setup with unique options/features. For example, by choosing ‘Business or Brand’, you will be able to include information about your physical location, open hours, and parking options. You can also integrate Facebook Marketplace and sell products directly from your business page. If you have a brick and mortar location, visitors will have the ability to “check in” when they come to your location. In contrast, the ‘Community or Public Figure’ page style is set up to help you promote yourself and continue to extend your following. This style page isn’t set up with the intent to sell or promote a particular product.
For this example, we will choose ‘Business or Brand’. Once you click on your choice, a quick form appears asking for basic information. Fill it out and click Continue:
Step 2: Add Profile Image and Cover Image
Follow the steps to upload a profile image and cover image. The profile image is the small square image found in the upper left corner of the page. For businesses, this is often the business logo. This image will show up next to your name anytime you post as your business in Facebook, so make sure to use an image/logo that is recognizable. The cover image is the long, horizontal image across the top of the page. This can be an extension of your branding or anything else that you feel is appropriate. Once you have your images uploaded, you will be directed to your new business profile to finish setup.
Step 3: Populate your Page
Now your page is live, but you still have more customizing to do. From the welcome area, click the bottom link: See All Page Tips. This will open a window with seven options to personalize your business page.
It’s important that you walk through each of the seven-page tips to add useful information for your audience. These options will allow you to add a link to your website, create a custom Facebook URL, add business hours, invite your friends, and more. There are even a couple of tips and how-to options about how best to manage and use your business profile.
Step 4: Start Engaging!
Congratulations, you now have a Facebook Business profile! Be sure you’ve invited all your friends, and ask them to do the same. When a person visits your new business profile, they can go to the Community box on the right and invite their friends to like and follow you. Consider boosting some Facebook posts to expand your reach and create Facebook ads to direct people to your website.
