Tell Your Story with Instagram Stories

Learn how to create Instagram Stories with Aspen Grove Marketing!

First, let’s talk a little about what an Instagram Story is. Instagram Stories are a compilation of photos or live video that live in your “Stories” for 24 hours – after which they disappear.

You can find your “Story” and “Stories” from friends you follow at the top of your newsfeed after logging into Instagram. They look like this:

When you tap on one of your friends’ profile pictures with the colorful ring around it, you will see 10-second videos or photos from throughout the last 24 hours.

You can also access your friends’ Stories via their profile – which will also show a colorful ring around their profile picture. Simply tap their profile picture to view their Story.

Ready to create your first Instagram Story? Okay!

Step 1:

Log in to your Instagram account and tap on the  at the top of your screen in the Stories bank.

Step 2:

Use the icons at the bottom of the screen to set your camera to photo or video, switch the camera to front- or rear-facing, turn on night-vision, and toggle the flash on or off. Tap the center button to take your picture – or tap and hold the center button to record a 10 second video.

Step 3:

After you’ve snagged the perfect shot, you will be given the opportunity to add text or draw on the photo or video via the icons at the top-right of your screen. You can also download the video to your camera roll via the icon at the bottom of your screen.

Step 4:

Tap the (+) symbol at the bottom of your screen to share your photo or video to your Story!

You’ll notice at this point that your own profile picture will now feature a colorful ring around it signifying that you have a Story for your friends to view.

How can I change or adjust my Story?

Instagram gives you the capability to delete, save, and share portions of your Stories. To access the menu to edit your Story, simply view your Story and tap on the […] icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen when you get to the image or video you would like to edit.

If you want to share the photo to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, or Swarm, you can do so via the “Share” option.

You’ve officially just made your first Instagram Story!
